Blood-brain barrier breakdown is a critical step in pathogenesis of autoimmune encephalitis. How immune cells may be acting to initiate or potentiate this process remains unclear. BBB breach also causes neuroinflammation triggered by infiltrating T cells. I am investigating molecular cues recruiting T cells to the brain and maintaining them in the CNS past resolution of infection. I am also interested in the role of different T cell subsets in neuroinflammation.
